Emotional eating is a shortcut way of dealing with the negative emotions from which Sgt Amy is protecting you. These emotions are unconscious. Experiencing emotions is not a mental illness, nor is watching a video therapy.
Choose a comfort food, the physical setting, including the time of day, the scene, note how strong you want to eat that food in this scenario and what emotion you expect to experience. Go deeper than feeling relaxed! The emotion is related to survival needs, thinking of the three-year-old that needs to be loved, special enough to be looked after, fed, belong so they are safe and protected as part of the "herd". This video shows you how to use a technique called "Flash".
You learned how to use the Flash Technique with anger in the previous video. In this video you can apply the technique to any events or memories or feelings in the same way. Remember that if you have a mental illness you should talk to your therapist for guidance.
